At the book exhibition, which promotes the tagline "The Future Is Readable," more than 3000 international and Iranian publishers and more than 200 significant Iranian bookstores are displaying their most recent publications.
The opening ceremony of the 11-day event was attended by directors from a number of book fairs, including the Doha International Book Event, New Delhi World Book Fair, and Muscat International Book Fair.
The ceremony is being attended by the culture ministers of Venezuela and Tajikistan, who are also in Tehran.
The book fair, which strives to strengthen cultural links in the area by displaying the most recent titles, is the largest cultural event in the region, according to a news statement issued by the event's organizers and signed by Tajik Ambassador Zohidi Nizomiddin Shamsiddinzoda.
"We have many cultural, historical, and religious issues in common with Iran, and the shared cultural and historical values lay the foundation for increased cultural exchange between the two countries," he added.
In addition, he said, "We are ready to be really active in all programs arranged by the organizers. Therefore, our delegation to Tehran has brought an extensive collection of books to the book fair." He also noted that making his nation the guest of honor at the book fair would help strengthen cultural ties with Iran.
Tajikistan intends to host a number of book launches and discussion forums. A discussion will also be held at the Tajikistan pavilion to debate the state of literature in the nation and to offer a fresh perspective on the cultural ties between Iran and Tajikistan. Groups of specialists have also been asked to participate.
During the book expo, Iranian and Tajik literary figures will host a poetry night and introduce a new Tajik dictionary.
To attend a Tajik cultural festival hosted in the Abbasabad Cultural Complex in the Iranian capital last October, a sizable cultural delegation headed by Zulfiya Davlatzoda, the Tajik Minister of Culture, traveled to Tehran.
For the start of a seven-day Iranian cultural festival in Dushanbe in November, Esmaeili led a team of artists on a reciprocal trip to Tajikistan.
